Display program details Teacher Education Course (Graduate School for Teaching Professional)  This course strives to train highly skilled teachers who possess both the practical and applied skills needed to solve various issues in educational settings as well as the skills to develop their own curricula integrating teaching theory and practices. Supporting Psychological Development Course  This course aims to equip students with high-level practical and applied skills regarding clinical psychology, educational guidance, counseling, and special support related to school education. Display program details Civil Engineering Division  This division aims to provide students with high-level technical knowledge and broad perspectives to help them build and manage the various systems and technologies of civil engineering so as to establish systems to prevent and reduce disasters involving public facilities and to build lifelines and transportation systems that form the core of regional social infrastructure. The department offers the following four courses: Structural Design, which studies design of social infrastructure facilities and the development of construction material by making full use of structural and material mechanics; Geo-environmental Management, which studies the development and preservation of the roles of supporting foundations of existing structures; Environmental and Maintenance, which aims to create and preserve water environments and structures with an eye on global environmental issues; and Engineering Urban Design, which quantitatively assesses the efficient systems and functional systems of urban design with a focus on the environment of civil social infrastructure as well. Mechanical and Systems Engineering Division   The goal of the division is to train highly skilled, creative engineers and researchers who can contribute to the development and production of various kinds of machinery that support our high-tech age, including energy conversion devices, transportation systems, electric/electronic devices, industrial robots and manufacturing facilities, research and development on the application and reliability of machine component materials and on technologies for manufacturing machinery elements and systems. The division focuses on the following areas: the study of technical foundations that enable the development and application of the strength and characteristics of various materials, forming and machining processes, thermal and fluid dynamics related to machinery functions, and engineering related to the control to produce highly functional, high-precision industrial products. Chemistry Division  In order to cope with future technical innovation, the division provides education and research in the fields of Molecular Design, Molecular Transformation, and Molecular Function, so that the chemical and physical natures of those materials that exist naturally can be clearly understood. We aim to develop highly creative researchers as well as advanced technical experts in various fields, such as molecular designs that utilize theoretical approaches and computer-based calculations; the development of electronic materials and new functional materials that use liquid crystal, organic functional materials which are comprised of organometallic compounds and other organic compounds; high functional polymer materials; biological production technology and environmental improvement technology; and basic research and the industrialization of these new materials. Electrical and Electronic Engineering Division   In response to the rapid growth of electronics and information science and with the future of this field in mind, the division aims to train researchers who can investigate the characteristics and basic electronic property of derivatives, semi-conductors and other materials, develop electronics-related new materials, advanced technology through efficient electric energy generation, transport, and conversion, basic analysis of information characteristics and expressions; and develop control systems founded on the basic theory of software and hardware and information processing technology. Biomolecular Science Division  The educational and research programs of this division cover a wide range of interdisciplinary fields from "bioscience," which promotes the understanding of life at the molecular level, to "biotechnology," which applies engineering to high-level biological functions. This division aims to not only advance new academic fields, but also to train highly specialized engineers and researchers in the spirit of inquiry and creativity in response to the demands of industrial society. Information Science Division  This division strives to prepare students to become professional computer engineers who have the ability to lead the 21st-century information revolution in which humans and information processing systems are synthesized and new information spaces have caused social change. Such ability is to be centered on evolving information processing methods based on advanced technologies constructed from mathematical and logical theories. The division conducts education and research in a wide range of academic studies including basic analysis related to information expression and processing; intelligent information processing technology related to the process of human thought; the development of highly functional next-generation information processing technology related to networks and images; the development of computing technology integrating hardware and software; the realization of high-level human interfaces (VR) and autonomous machines to support human beings; and applications for medical information processing. Materials Science and Technology Division  This division provides researchers and engineers with highly specialized skills, the ability to lead research work in and outside Japan, and the research and development capacity to widely apply the specialized knowledge they have gained. The program strives to provide specialized and interdisciplinary knowledge related to the creation and processing of functional materials and the evaluation of their characteristics in order for students to improve the technology to create and use new materials, and to use limited resources effectively while being environmentally aware of rapid changes in the social environment and industrial structures. Human and Information Systems Division  This program strives to train creative engineers and researchers through education and research related to co-existence and harmony between humans and machinery, including eco-friendly, energy-saving systems; intelligent mechatronics that contribute to medicine and welfare; information networks; signal-processing technology; computer-aided intelligent manufacturing systems; human-mechanical interfaces based on ergonomics; and robotics aimed at co-existence between humans and robots. Mathematical and Design Engineering Division  This division strives to train mathematical engineers with cutting-edge specialized knowledge of modeling, practical analysis and design technology, as well as to develop deep insights into mathematics, physics, applied mechanics, and computational science which form the foundations of this field. Using such knowledge, the division hopes that graduates will contribute to a wide range of fields in the industry as well as academia. To this end, the courses in computational mathematics, materials design, and system design encompass research and education from the perspectives of mathematics, physics and basic engineering concerning wide-scale problems from the atomic to the astronomic scale, including quantum and nano-materials, tribology, chaos & fractals, non-linear computer-aided engineering (CAE), credibility assessment, environmental forecasting, oceanic waves, and celestial observation. Environmental and Renewable Energy Systems Division  This division conducts education and research on environmental and energy issues that transcend conventional academic borders. It is particularly concerned with such issues as global environmental preservation and energy systems which constitute the most significant challenges facing mankind in the 21st century. The division aims to train and re-educate highly skilled and knowledgeable interdisciplinary professionals well-versed in the development of new renewable energy sources as well as the development of independent (regional) dispersed energy supply systems through new uses of conventional energy systems. Doctoral Program  This program strives to train creative researchers and engineers who have a wide range of skills in the development and application of technology and to offer specialized education that further deepens students' knowledge. The program also allows working students to maintain their jobs with firms and organizations and make full use of their research findings for their work depending on their research topic. It incorporates a system whereby students can have their research findings evaluated even if they reduce their time studying on campus. In addition, the program actively accepts international students in order to promote globalization. Material Engineering Division  This program aims to train researchers and advanced technical experts to gain broad perspectives, a wide range of specialized knowledge, a wide variety of research methods and application skills, and to have the ability to guide and promote research and development projects. Our focus is on clarifying the static and dynamic natures of materials by utilizing knowledge and research methods from materials engineering in general--not only specialized fields in chemistry, and having the goals to study the development of rich solutions for human and social needs. Electronics and Information Systems Engineering Division  This division strives to develop capable systems engineers and researchers who can research and develop issues in new fields of application. It includes studying the fundamental information science needed for systemization as well as the Electronic Materials Engineering needed for the development of devices and new materials that support advanced future systems with an eye to developing even higher-level computer systems. Environmental and Renewable Energy Systems Division  This program aims to train creative researchers and re-educate working adults who have the ability to pioneer an environmental industry revolution aimed at fusing technology, society, and the eco-system. The program provides students with the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to realize the foundations of dispersed energy supply systems, the development of untapped energy sources, and innovative technology applied to conventional energy systems as well as clean sustainable energy and recyclable energy. Graduate School of Applied Biological Sciences  This program educates highly trained professionals who have obtained cutting-edge specialized knowledge regarding the application of the theories and technology of the biological sciences and life sciences to industry, as well as the improvement of the daily environment and the sustainable existence of the human race. Science of Biological Environment  This course seeks students willing to advance theory using research methods employed in ecology, biology, physics and chemistry to solve environmental issues, which constitute the foundation of biological production, including agriculture and forestry and the correlation between the global environment and species. In addition, the course seeks students who have a strong desire to contribute to society through research on the theories and technology related to the environmental preservation of farmland and forest ecosystems and the management of sustainable biological resources. Science of Biological Resources  This course seeks researchers who are motivated to acquire the technology and understanding of theory related to the high-level usage of biological resources including untapped resources, the creation of new substances, and the application of such knowledge to environmental improvement. Students will advance fundamental theories related to biological functions and resources by analyzing the structural and organized functions of soil, which constitutes the foundation of production and biological resources. This includes the analysis of animals, plants and microorganisms from multiple and comprehensive perspectives, such as cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, organic and physical chemistry. United Graduate School of Veterinary Sciences  This division trains highly qualified researchers who can contribute to various fields of society and conduct unique, cutting-edge research through the application of highly professional knowledge regarding veterinary medicine in the hope of contributing to the advancement of society and sciences related to veterinary medicine.
